Open Studio

Need access to sewing machines or other textile equipment? Come tackle your projects in our studio!

Book your spot in our Open Studio time and have access to our machines, tables, tools, and more. You can work independently on whatever you want with plenty of space. Bring your own patterns, fabric, thread, and we’ll supply the machines and tools that you need! This is a perfect opportunity if you’ve taken one of our sewing classes previously and would like to work on more projects solo! 

$10/hr - Book your first hour here to reserve your spot! Need more time? Give us a call or pay on site to book more time! 

 Skill Requirements: You must have basic machine sewing knowledge. We expect all students to work independently during open studio hours. This will not be guided sewing time. Our beginner sewing classes are a great place to learn the basics and are an equivalent prerequisite for open studio. We cannot accept customers who have never sewn on a machine for this open studio, check out our guided sewing time if you need a more hands on approach. If you cannot work independently, we’ll ask you to please book a class that’s better fit for your skills. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation if you cannot demonstrate working knowledge of the sewing machine, as we want to avoid any safety issues and breaking any sewing machine. You will be required to sign a liability waiver and a waiver acknowledging that you know how to sew. 

Some examples of appropriate projects for this are personal alterations, working on an apparel projects, creating your own designs of clothing or home goods, space to wind yarn balls, upcycling projects, or nearly any fabric or textile based projects. Some inappropriate projects are leather, sewing with plastic or untraditional materials, projects that take up more than the pattern table space and sewing machines. 

Our instructor will be present to answer small questions or fix any small issues that might arise, but they cannot guide your project or teach you to sew. Please be respectful of their time as they are also working during open studio hours. This is our working studio, this means that the space can be noisy or busy and you will need to share the space with other students and our staff. There is plenty of space for everyone! At the end of the session, we will require you to unthread the machine, put away your bobbins and tools, and clean up any threads and scraps. 

Late Policy: Your time slot begins on the hour you have booked. We are not responsible for providing you with extra time if you are late. Please be courteous and on time.
